August Free Movie Nights @ LACMA 2012

Wee~~  LACMA’s Outdoor Films series starts this week and it’s all about animated movies. Yes!  I’ve already made plans to see Bolt this Friday and hopefully another one before the month is through.

Free events like this make me love summers in LA and I’ve been good this year on taking advantage of them. There’s nothing like chilling outdoors on a big picnic blanket with good friends, some delicious munchies and a nice glass of wine.

WHAT:  LACMA’s Outdoor Film Series: Animation August

COST:  Event is FREE!  Parking is $10 or free after 7pm.

Hester Street Fair Hollywood

Get ready for some summer fun…

New York’s Hester Street Fair is coming to Hollywood!

New York’s favorite outdoor market is coming to Hollywood this summer for a series of 4 fun filled FREE events one block East of the historic intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine. The Hester Street Fair will be curating a collection of some of LA’s favorite artisans, craftsmen, collectors, food, brands, bloggers and music.

Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday to me!

Maskull Lasserre: Outliers

Canadian artist, Maskull Lasserre, has reproduced animal tracks onto the soles of shoes that are worn to leave prints in urban areas. Haha! Can you imagine? Would be rad to be walking around the city and randomly see moose tracks leading into a Starbucks or something.

Before I Die…

One of the first posts I ever put up on my blog a year ago was about an chalkboard installation called “Before I Die…” in New Orleans by Candy Chang (see post here). I was happy to learn that the installation has spread to Chicago as a collaboration with Good News Only + Chicago Urban Art Society. Find out more about Before I Die Chicago on their tumblr site. This is such a powerful and inspirational project — it would be great to have an installation here in LA.
